Assoc. Prof. Dipl.-Chem. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Falk Liebner is Privatdozent for Biopolymer Materials Chemistry at the Institute for Chemistry of Renewable Resources, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU), Austria. Graduated from Dresden University of Technology, Germany, in the field of organic chemistry with specialization in bioorganosilicon chemistry, and after having acquired six-years of research expertise in hydrogeochemistry, Dr. Liebner started his university career in biopolymer materials science in 1999.

Since joining BOKU in 2006, his major research is dedicated to ultra-lightweight biopolymer aerogels for visualization, biomedical and thermal insulation applications. Within the last 10 years, Dr. Liebner published about 80 paper in high-rank peer-reviewed SCI journals, 10 book chapters, about 140 contributions to scientific conferences, supervised 15 PhD and master students. He gives 4 lecture series, is active as associate editor / editorial board member of several journals, reviewer for more than 30 journals and was recently elected member of the Executive Committee of the CELL Division of the American Chemical Society.
